Fantastic cycling spot for beginners. We love taking our children up there for a family bike ride. There are also great views across the downs.

Views from Walkers Hill

East Field in Alton Priors stretches over a mile east towards Wilcot and north to Walkers Hill. There is a permissive path around the headland and the views from the north side of the field towards Woodborough Hill are stunning. In winter with the sun highlighting the contours or the mist rolling along the valley floor the view is no less dramatic than in the summer when the view of ripening crops is topped with the distinctive clump of beech trees. I never tire of the view.

Not quite on the High Street

Marlborough is home to many hidden gems, one being Fermoie, a premium British designer and printer of fabrics and accessories. The fabrics are designed in house and printed in the Marlborough factory. Using traditional techniques, the print creates a subtle impression but with the depth of a woven fabric. The showroom is open on Wednesdays and there is the occasional sale … I love sifting through the fabrics and coming away with lengths of wonderful heavy printed linen to be converted into statement cushion covers!

Devil's Den

There's so much amazing history hidden in Wiltshire's valleys. Walk from Clatford to Devil's Den, the remains of a Neolithic chambered long barrow. There's rarely anyone else there and you often see deer in the surrounding fields.
