White Mulberry

Ceri Cliss comes from a family of seamstresses and has always loved sewing. On moving out of home her mother bought her a sewing machine, and she’s been making her own soft furnishings ever since. She now runs her business White Mulberry Soft Furnishings from a lovely farm location on the Wiltshire / Berkshire border.

‘I love playing with fabric for a living and feel extremely fortunate to have a business that’s a hobby. Sewing is so relaxing and therapeutic, and I can work it around the children. My background in finance means I quite like the business side too’.

Walk into their welcoming consulting room and you know you’re in good hands. See examples of cushions & lampshades, bookshelves filled with fabric & wallpaper samples & fun options for curtain poles on display. Have a peek into the workroom to see where it all happens - curtains, blinds, lampshades, headboards, pelmets or cushions all bespoke and handmade.

‘I begin by visiting your home to understand the style - tell me your wall colours and I’ll come armed with fabric books and samples that complement your interiors. We’ll then take measurements, discuss what you’re looking for and follow up with a visit to our consulting rooms to finalise colours and designs. I love to champion independent British designers who offer something different.’

They also help with fittings and fixtures and Ceri and her team won’t leave your home until everything fits perfectly.

My Wiltshire

I’ve always lived in Wiltshire, I was raised in Salisbury, and moved to Marlborough 6 years ago. I love the lush green countryside and the abundance of thatched cottages we have in our villages. Wiltshire is quintessentially English. We have such beautiful towns to visit, with their markets, architecture and independent shops to mooch in.

Our top things to do in Wiltshire

Family days out at Bowood House

With friends and family in Bristol this is an ideal place for us to spend a sunny, summer’s Sunday afternoon with a picnic. My parents took me here as a child, we used to love running around the adventure playground, and now I love seeing my children running around the adventure playground. The “death slide” is as terrifying now as I remember it!

Ice Cream in Salisbury Cathedral Close

Comment Watching the world go by, enjoying an ice cream, in awe of the surrounding architecture. How did they build such an enormous building 800 years ago?

Exploring Savernake Forest

Picnics in the summer, walks in the autumn, bluebells in the spring, Savernake Forest is on our doorstep and we love exploring with our young family, particularly making up scavenger hunts.
