Clementine always dreamed of having her own shop, and when she returned from London to her family home in Tisbury in 2006, she realised she could make it a reality.
“My mother ran Compton Marbling for over 35 years and organized gift fairs in the courtyard of our family home. When I moved back, I realised it was the perfect opportunity to create exactly the shop I’d always wanted.”
There are two rooms of unusual items and gifts; one for children up to 10 and the other has something for everyone including a range of lamps, boxfiles and books using the unique hand marbled papers made by Clementine’s mother.
“My mother and I decide what to buy, that way we cover the tastes and interests of two generations. Our family has an age range from 6 months to 71 and we like to make sure there is something a little different and unusual to suit them all. “
“There is plenty of space to park outside, a toy box to keep children happy and absolutely no pressure. We welcome visitors as guests and with our new pop-up cafe there's even more opportunity to take your time, have a cup of tea or coffee and relax. ”
I love being back where I grew up. I have great memories of picking strawberries at Pythouse Kitchen Garden with my sisters (now run by my husband many years later!)
